          Description

Greenpath uses research based methods and strategies to measure the level of environmental vulnerabilities of local government and states.
This initiative measures the environmental impact of flood, desertification, population, food security and climate change, then categorize them according to threat level. This categorization creates a pathway for government, stakeholders, corporate bodies and interested entities to take radical climate change adaptation and mitigation measures in building climate resilience.

A software application that contains information on each local government/municipal from socioeconomic dynamics to environmental threats is designed to carry all the information. The app will provide in-depth data and statistics of each locality ranging from water supply, agriculture, economy and natural resources. The goal of the Green Path app is to improve climate information and early warning systems across vulnerable regions which has the potential to significantly improve lives, build resilience and support global efforts on climate mitigation.
Using information gained from our research and expert advice, we will then design adaptation framework that governments and stakeholders can engage in. All data will be available and accessible from any region of the world.

In order to effectively improve early warning systems and disaster risk reduction, the Greenpath project will build a synergy between NiMET and NEMA through partnership. Fostering a collaborative alliance between the two agencies will magnify efforts of disaster risk reduction. The goal of this alliance is to bring the two agencies to work effectively towards bridging the gap between services and community inclusion by using mass communication processes and the greenpath app to reach people across regions, including those at the local level.

This will improve effectiveness of duty where there will be real-time updates on extreme weather events, improved weather forecast and comprehensive explanations of measures to take when there is a weather emergency. The alliance will also work towards improving service delivery through localizing weather reports and collaboration with media houses.
