ChallengeSerious games are excellent tools for education, but how to create them easily and quick?
Challenge CategoryLearning Spaces and Pedagogies
Solution descriptionThe Teacher’s Toolbox is an online platform that allows teachers to create their own game by selecting a number of criteria (e.g. number of players, time, levels, etc.) and introducing content and then the platform creates the game, based on pre-set templates. The teachers can also use a game designed by another colleague and eventually modify and customise it to their needs.
The rapid and easy way of creating personalised games will allow teachers to save time and engage students in interesting and interactive learning processes. The Teacher’s Toolbox’ includes digital components (digital cards and boards) but also physical ones (dices and tokens) and encourages face-to-face interaction for a blended learning experience. All users have the opportunity to rate the games as a way to provide feedback on their experience.
As the games are highly customisable, they can be used in different subjects and on different educational levels, including company trainings. In the longer term, the solution can expand into collaborating with research labs to introduce research games; it can encourage the creation of a community of teachers, constantly expanding its learning resources and thus contributing to create a game-based curriculum.
