Student4Student is a mobile platform for last year high school students who are interested in learning more about career options in Informatics and getting in touch with university students who already pursue such studies. The platform aims to encourage specifically young female students to continue their education in the Informatics area, as a way to achieve better gender balance in the IT industry.

Student4Students is a mobile platform for last year high school students interested to learn more before making a choice on their further education or career path.

The platform will offer information on Informatics applications and careers and will connect last year high school student with Informatics university students, available to provide guidance and support. The platform is demand-driven, meaning students have the opportunity to communicate their interests of what topics they would like to learn more about. It targets high school students and especially girls who are less likely to pursue education and careers in the IT sector.

The platform is complemented by a suggestion to invite Informatics professionals to give talks to students, by ensuring that 50% of the speakers will be women. By introducing higher education students to what Informatics profession is, the solution aims to fight the two main reasons for low motivation of girls to pursue Informatics studies: misconception of what it is and perception that this is a male-dominated field.

Apart from the benefit for high school students and more particularly girls, the solution also benefits university students who will receive volunteering credits for their participation.
