          Description

          Synopsis

Fake news has resulted in multiple occurrences of violence and lynchings, causing numerous deaths and property damage. India alone has seen 46 deaths and 43 critically injured people reported in the last year over WhatsApp lynchings, just one of the many forms of fake news. The story isn’t different in South East Asia and Africa, the developing regions that have seen exponential growth in online activities. Fake news is a form of cyber attack that will continue to grow in the future, and is something that needs to be tackled head on from the outset. We underline the importance of this issue and propose a 4-way strategy to counter it.
