          Description

The production of waste is increasing exponentially with rise in population. The term 'waste management' in the present day world is used for dumping of waste without any standardized methods for collection and disposal. In most of the developing nations(like the case of India), they either burn or throw it in the drainage system, which gets eventually piled up for a land fill. The above method is sustainable in olden days when people used biodegradable substances which had a minimal effect on soil and air pollution. The current usage of Plastics is alarming and in future the demand will increase at higher rate. Most of them are difficult to dispose and cause soil pollution if used in a land fill and air pollution if incinerated/burned. Therefore, they should be treated with a lot of care and the this is the need of the hour for the sustainable development.

Our idea is to improve efficiency of waste management techniques and processes that are being used (especially in India) with the help of IOT technology. The idea is to integrate different steps in the process by which SDG's ( except 2,4,5,16 ) will be realized (directly and indirectly) and absorbed into the present day society. The basis of this project is based on concepts of circular economy which aims at reducing waste, peak efficient usage of resources and increase of revenue. The revenue flow makes it economically feasible. This project uses ICT tools that are opensource and also can be reproduced anywhere. The basic idea is given by the acronym "AIDE" (AGGREGATE, ISOLATE, DISPOSE, ESTIMATE & ANALYSIS).We track the waste from smart trash bins which will be monitored in real time and makes accumulation easy without any overflow/spill away. We then differentiate the garbage collected
into 3 major groups: Plastics, wet biodegradable waste and others. In case of disposal, we send the isolated waste for their respective usage as follows: plastics can be sent to recycle plant and plastic deposit machines (PDM) are put up where deposit of plastic waste will be rewarded(e wallet credit). The wet waste is sent to a bio-gas/fertilizer plant and other waste is analysed before treating/disposing it. Furthermore, a continuous data estimate will be done based on real time data that is transmitted by means of ICT tools (GSM-global systems for Mobile communication,
GPS-Global Positioning System, Microprocessors and sensors) and can be handled through a mobile/web application. The hardware is integrated to software and many API's are used( for example Google Maps for GPS ). The major focus is on Plastic waste which is dealt with utmost care and it eventually lets people to dispose them separately since the plastic waste is crediting them with some value (monetary value) and this becomes a habit gradually. Overall scenario and mindset of people change which will steer people without queering the environment which directly improves the life of people.

This idea is a global solution for efficient management of resources and is an optimal strategy to integrate SDG's to circular economy. The economic feasibility of the project gives it a new dimension making it sustainable for implementation among all the sectors(government and private) especially among developing countries. The project is expected to change the present day methods of waste management making them more effective and people become more perturbed towards a better future.
